Manual Handling Training Refresher
The Government of Australia has taken great care in ensuring that the healthcare policies are updated frequently, to accommodate more efficient delivery methods for medicines and at the same time, keep the medical profession in line with global research. This is the exact reason why the Manual Handling Training Refresher program has been designed.
As per the state/industry rules pertaining to you, you might be mandated to go through the refresher training once in a while. At the same time, many professionals choose to take the refresher course even if they are not mandated to. It helps them go through the fundamentals quickly and also helps them earn a certificate.
If you are working or aim to work as a supervisor, coordinator or assistant in the aged or disability care industry, manual handling refresher training would come as an essential skill for you. This is one of the few skills you will acquire during to training, that will come in handy irrespective of what field you choose and what facet of the industry you are working in. As far as you are working as a care worker in aged care and disability care or as a nurse in a hospital or any medical institution, community living space or personal space – manual handling will be a required skill for you. The manual handling refresher course is suitable for those who are already working in health-related industries.
Course Structure & Delivery Methods
The course has been structured as a 2-hour practical training session, that will help you get deep and yet quick training in manual handling. You will get to go through:
1. Basic Principle of Manual Handling
These principles will make Manual Handling more intuitive for you as a professional, whether you are supposed to do it regularly or in an emergency. You will get to learn about the ‘No Lift Policy’ as well as all the necessary and healthy postures, that will help you do your job with greater ease.
2. Using the Appropriate Set of Tools
3. Responding to Unforeseeable Situations
These are situations you may face once in a while; but ones for which you should be thoroughly prepared. Helping a patient with assistance in floor recovery once she/he has fallen is one of such skills.
The program has been structured to provide an overview of all the necessary skills required to excel as a caregiver. Since the program is largely on Manual Handling, it is not available in any online modules. You will have to attend a session in physical. But this is more of a feature of the program, since it allows to you take full advantage of the learn from simulation practice at Auz Training. This way, you will also get quickly familiar with commonly used tools in caregiving institutions across the industry, like the monkey bar, hoists and slide sheets.
Since the program is a refresher course, credit, subject or training waiver is not available. Prior experience will help but is not meant to waive any of the course components. For more details on the eligibility criteria, feel free to get in touch with our team at info@nursingtrainingaustralia.com
On successful completion of the refresher, you will get the electronic certificate. A hard copy of the certificate may be provided on special request and payment of handing over, printing and courier charges disclosed at the time of enrolment.
